Issues

Murfreesboro is a great place to live, work and raise a family- which is clear by the growth we're experiencing in our great city. Our quality of life is second to none, but to remain a strong and attractive city we need strong leaders with a plan- and that's the type of proven, strong leadership 6th generation Murfreesboro resident Shawn Wright has delivered throughout his first term as your councilman and that is why he is seeking to use his unmatched qualifications, experience, dedication for public service - and proven record of success over the past four years- to continue serving you and your families as councilman.

Public Safety

As a real estate professional, Shawn knows that safety is one thing that attracts and retains residents to our city. As councilman Shawn is proud that his first term reflects a consistent and successful record of fighting to ensure Murfreesboro Police & Fire departments are fully funded to recruit, retain and equip the best public safety personnel in the state to ensure that we remain a safe city. Councilman Wright has led the fight to increase public safety employee pay to be competitive with surrounding counties and municipalities.

Parks & Recreation

The quality of life of a city depends upon parks and recreation offerings. Councilman Shawn has kept his word to make these offerings a priority while exploring all options to alternatively fund them.

Shawn remains committed to work to sustain and enhance our parks and recreation assets by maintaining current parks/facilities while working diligently to add new offerings sought by taxpayers such as pickleball courts and other programs.

Schools

As the husband of an educator, a product of public education and the father of public school students, Councilman Wright knows the importance of ensuring our teachers are competitively compensated and that our students have the best up-to-date supplies, equipment, and safe facilities.

A city is only as strong as its' public schools, and Murfreesboro Public Schools are amongst the best. Shawn is committed to ensure that our schools and the staff have the support and resources needed.

As school safety remains a priority, Shawn will continue to work with the law enforcement and other applicable entities to ensure the safety of our students, teachers and staff. With proactive measures and a minimum of one full-time SRO at each campus, parents can feel that councilman Wright is working to keep schools safe.

Infrastructure, Smart growth

Shawn promised to implement a plan to alleviate traffic and plan for the continued growth we would experience- he's kept that promise.

Through common sense leadership, that has been unpopular at ties with developers and colleagues, Shawn has worked for Murfreesboro taxpayers.

LIMITED APARTMENT GROWTH

DELAYED MASSIVE DEVELOPMENTS THAT DIDN'T HAVE ACCOMPANYING INFRASTRUCTURE IN PLACE YET

WORKED SUCCESSFULLY TO MAJORLY IMPROVE ROADWAYS THROUGHOUT MURFREESBORO

    Taxes, Fiscal Responsibility

When elected in 2020, Councilman Wright he vowed to "never vote to raise taxes", he's kept that promise throughout his entire term.

As a  businessman, Shawn knows the importance of budgeting properly. That's why throughout his first term he's addressed spending with a business mindset to develop and implement strategic solutions to finance city needs without raising taxes
